Hi, I’m Nele!
Who I am I'm Nele, a German freelance journalist, scriptwriter, and filmmaker, based in Barcelona. I tell stories about social inequality, human rights, health and pop culture.
What drives me I believe journalism should do more than inform. It should unsettle, challenge, evoke anger as well as present solutions, and give a voice to those who are rarely heard.
Where I come from I hold a Bachelor’s and Master's in Journalism, Media Communication and Professional Writing, and a Diploma in Filmmaking from Universities in Germany and Spain.
What I do I work across formats: long- and short-form documentary, video journalism, and scripted content for online and offline platforms. I'm a Board Member at European Youth Press. There, I also mentor emerging journalists in ethical storytelling, video journalism and media literacy. Alongside my documentary and journalistic work, I develop fictional scripts and screenplays.

Wer ich bin Ich bin Nele, freie Journalistin, Autorin und Filmemacherin aus Deutschland, aktuell in Barcelona. Ich spreche am liebsten über (soziale) Ungleichheit, Menschenrechte, Gesundheit und Popkultur.
Was mich antreibt Ich glaube, Journalismus sollte mehr als nur informieren. Er sollte aufwühlen, hinterfragen, wütend machen und Lösungen vorschlagen und vor allem denen eine Stimme geben, die selten gehört werden.
Mein Background Ich habe einen Bachelor und Master in Journalismus, Medienkommunikation und Professional Writing sowie ein Diplom in Film von Hochschulen in Deutschland und Spanien.
Was ich mache Ich arbeite formatübergreifend: lang- und kurzformatige Filme, Videojournalismus und Scripted Content für Online- und Offline-Plattformen. Ich bin Vorstandsmitglied bei der European Youth Press. Dort bilde ich auch junge Journalist:innen in ethischem Storytelling, Videojournalismus und Medienkompetenz weiter. Neben meiner dokumentarischen und journalistischen Arbeit entwickle ich auch fiktionale Projekte.
